In February 2017, we announced a national partnership with Habitat for Humanity to build homes for families in 15 cities where USG plants are located. In addition to funding and in-kind donations of building materials, our employees will donate hundreds of volunteer to create life-changing opportunities for those in need of decent housing.

“We are experts in manufacturing building products – but this partnership provides us an even more rewarding opportunity. We are able to create a more meaningful connection by working on jobsites in the neighborhoods where our employees live,” said Jennifer Scanlon, USG’s president and chief executive officer.

We kicked off the partnership with a construction project in Tempe, Ariz. with more than 100 members of USG’s leadership team and representatives from Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona. Throughout 2018, 15 more of our plants will partner with their local Habitat chapter, including:

  • Auburn, Wash.
  • Baltimore, Md.
  • Dallas
  • Detroit
  • Galena Park, Texas
  • Gypsum, Ohio
  • Jacksonville, Fla.
  • Otsego, Mich.
  • Phoenix
  • Plaster City, Calif.
  • Port Reading, N.J.
  • Shoals, Ind.
  • Sperry, Iowa
  • Sweetwater, Texas
  • Washingtonville, Pa.

The USG Foundation, the company’s philanthropic arm, provides support to non-profit organizations that enhance human service, education, civic, arts and cultural development. USG’s wholly-owned subsidiary CGC Inc. and joint venture USG Boral Building Products, have worked with Habitat for Humanity for the past several years. Since 2017, USG and CGC have collectively donated more than $300,000, in addition to in-kind materials to Habitat projects throughout North America.
